The Appalachian State University campus is currently operating under NORMAL conditions.

Upon notification of a campus disaster or campus emergency, the University Police will immediately contact local emergency response agencies, such as the fire department, EMS, etc. After such contact, the University Police will begin two phases of notification as follows:

  • Phase I notification includes:
    • Sending an APPSTATE-ALERT voice and text message to all contacts registered with APPSTATE-ALERT.
    • Sending a campus-wide email message to all appstate.edu email addresses.
    • Posting emergency information on the emergency website and top-tier appstate.edu pages.
  • Phase II notification includes:
    • Notifying the Chancellor and Executive Group.
    • Notifying the Emergency Operations Center Group.
    • Notifying the Operations Group.
